The World Party is a thought experiment, reimagining global population and exploring the mosaic of national identity through people, data, and stories.

We visualise world population as a party with 1000 tickets, shared between countries in proportion to their population. This makes it easier to compare how many people live in each place, but also makes us ask:

If this party did happen, who would you nominate to represent your vision of your nation? For example, with 9 tickets for the UK, 6 for Spain, and just 1 for Slovakia, who would each nation feel best captures the essence of the place?

Frequently Asked Questions

No. Well, not currently. The World Party is a thought experiment and visualisation — a way to explore and discuss global population.
One thousand is large enough to show meaningful differences between nations, yet small enough to remain imaginable and intuitive.
Each ticket represents one thousandth of the global population. We have rounded each country's tickets to the nearest whole number for simplicity.
Some nations have populations smaller than one ticket. These are grouped regionally to ensure everyone is represented while preserving proportionality. We are happy to hear your opinion on our current groupings. Contact us using the email address below.

We want to know who people feel best represents their nation. Anyone can submit their nominations for their own nation, which will be collated to synthesise a consensus vision of each. Go to the nomination form here.

Anyone who you feel represents your vision of your nation. Nominated people should be born after 1900, and are preferably still alive.

We’re interested to hear who you would nominate for other countries. We provide space for one nomination beyond your nation. Go to the nomination form here.

We are asking for at least one nomination per person. You are welcome to submit as many nominations as your country has tickets, up to a maximum of 10 per person.

Your voice is equally important to us! If national identity does not reflect how you see yourself, there is a tickbox on the nomination form allowing you to share your own identity.

Nominations will be collated to synthesise a consensus vision of each nation. Any personal information, like email, will only be used to follow up with you about your nominations should you be interested.
